Wahine freshman named WAC pitcher of the week

Advertiser Staff

Hawaii Wahine freshman Felicity Witt has been named Western Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week.

Witt, from New South Wales, Australia, went 2-0 with two shutouts during a Florida road trip. She allowed seven hits and five walks in 14 innings. She pitched a two-hitter against Stetson and a five-hitter against Bethune-Cookman.

San Jose State’s Amy Walter earned Position Player of the Week honors. Hawaii shortstop Kate Judd was nominated for the honor.

The Wahine finished 6-2 on the trip. They went 3-1 in the South Florida Tournament, swept a doubleheader from Stetston and split another with Bethune-Cookman.

The Wahine open their home season Thursday in the Chevron Paradise Classic.
