Their places in next weeks state tournament are already secure, but the four teams still playing in the Oahu Interscholastic Association basketball season will be no less intense tomorrow.
In OIA Tournament semifinal games tomorrow, Mililani (9-2) plays at Western Division champion Leilehua (10-0) and Kahuku (9-3) travels to Eastern champion Kalaheo (11-0). Both games will start about 7:30 p.m., following 6 oclock junior varsity semifinals.
On Thursday at Blaisdell Arena, tomorrows varsity winners play at 7 p.m. for the OIA championship and the leagues seeded berth in the state tournament; the losers play at 5 for third place. The junior varsity championship game will be at 3:30.
Kalaheo and Leilehua won their quarterfinal games by 27 and 25 points, respectively, both maintaining the firepower of about 70 points per game that they demonstrated during the regular season.
Mililani also won handily but Kahuku just got by Pearl City.
Kalaheo and Leilehua remained 1-2 last night in the weekly state poll of coaches and media by HawaiiSportsNetwork.com. Kalaheo (22-1 overall) has been No. 1 all season and Leilehua (16-4 overall) moved ahead of Iolani onto the second rung last week.
