Kristi Gushiken, a student at Colo-rado State University from Mililani, received a $1,144 Robinson A. McWayne Memorial Scholarship from the university’s College of Liberal Arts.

Chevron awarded $1,500 scholarships to University of Hawaii-Manoa students Sarah Hall, who received the Chevron Scholarship for the College of Engineering, and Jamie Tanimoto, who received the Chevron Scholarship for Global Environmental Science.

The Aloha Council, Boy Scouts of America honored 17 volunteer leaders with the Silver Beaver Award, a recognition given by the National Court of Honor to a scout volunteer for distinguished service to youth.

The honorees are:

Kimura, Kalaheo; Carol A. McCarthy, Honolulu; Earl Miyabara, Kealakekua; Frederick A. Parker, Mililani; Ila D. Pavesic, Tamuning, Guam; Leroy Sakaguchi, Lihue; Patricia S. Straight, Hilo; Alvin A. Tanaka, Honolulu; Patricia J. Wrath, Kailua; Kenneth T. Yoshida, Mililani.
