MUST-SEE: "The Ditchdiggers Daughters" (1997), 6 p.m., Fox Family Channel: On its best nights, TV treats Black History Month as more than a calendar quirk, using it to bring back some of the finest films. A perfect example is this true story that resonates with emotion. Carl Lumbly is superb as an uneducated man whos determined to give his daughters the best. He was a flawed man who drove the girls so hard that he almost lost them. "Ditchdiggers Daughters" offers rich layers of human strength, fallacies and passion, and is immensely moving.
High School Basketball, State Championship, semi-final game, 7 p.m. KFVE.
"Starship Troopers" (1997), 7 p.m., Fox: Maybe this is the essence of Hollywood - handsome young people fighting giant insects to save the world. At least director Paul Verhoeven, who was praised for "Robocop" and ridiculed for "Showgirls," has filled this futuristic, yet simplistic tale with pretty people. They include Casper Van Dien, Neil Patrick Harris, Denise Richards and Patrick Muldoon.
"Bullitt" (1968), 3 p.m., AMC: Director Peter Yares and star Steve McQueen made this a state-of-the-art cop film. Theres a spectacular car chase through San Franciscos hills.
"The Fugitive," 8 p.m., CBS: When this two-parter began, Kimble fell for a young widow (Stacy Edwards of "Chicago Hope"). Thats short-circuited tonight when two crooks recognize him as an escapee on the lam.
"Law and Order, Special Victims Unit," 9 p.m., NBC: The cops scramble to stop a string of kidnappings, rapes and murders.
