Two arrested in attack on driver

Police arrested a man, 23, and boy, 15, in connection with an attack early this morning on a motorist near the Sears store at Pearlridge Shopping Center.

The male victim, 23, in the 12:17 a.m. attack at 98-180 Kamehameha Hwy. was cut on the right arm and struck with a baseball bat, police said. He was in critical condition at The Queen’s Medical Center.

The two suspects were arrested by a police officer on patrol in the area.

Police said the motorist was stopped at a bus stop fronting Sears when he was confronted by the adult suspect brandishing a knife. The suspect allegedly cut the victim’s right arm and dragged him out of the car. Police said he reportedly was beating the victim when the juvenile suspect appeared with a bat and chased off a passenger in the car.

The adult suspect took the bat and reportedly smashed the car’s windshield.

The two suspects were booked for attempted murder, first-degree robbery, unlawful entry into a motor vehicle and third-degree criminal property damage. Charges are pending.
