For some, its the french fries.
For many others, its the free toy that draws them to those ubiquitous arches.
McDonalds of Hawaii late last week unveiled its latest Happy Meal toy: the Robo-Chi Pets. Pint-sized versions of the wildly popular interactive pets are available now at the 86 restaurants in the state.
In addition to Poo-Chi and Meow-Chi, McDonalds will welcome newcomer Chirpy-Chi, a bird that moves and grooves. This launch will coincide with the cyber birds retail introduction in toy stores nationwide.
"We make it affordable and convenient for people to own them," said Melanie Okazaki, assistant marketing manager at McDonalds of Hawaii, who confesses she owns eight Robi-Chi Pets.
The Happy Meals toys will feature four Poo-Chis, two Meow-Chis and two Chirpy-Chis. One dog will be available each week, along with either a cat or bird. Each toy comes in four different colors, making for a total of 32 interactive toys to collect.
Each cyber-pet performs one trick. One Poo-Chi barks when you clap, one lies down, another dances on tiptoe and one lights up his heart-shaped eyes. One Meow-Chi spins around, the other lights up his eyes. Chirpy-Chi sings or flaps his wings.
A bonus: The cyber pets interact with each other.
But collectors have to move fast: The mini Robo-Chi Pets will only be available until March 22, or while supplies last.
