James Moniz of Kamuela, a student at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., received the universitys Continuing Excellence GW Pride Award for his extracurricular dedication and perseverance, and his ability to rally school involvement. He is among the 21 students at the university who will receive the award this school year.
Jay Tschillard of Kaneohe has been selected to receive a 2001 Jump Rope for Heart Outstanding Coordinator Award for his dedication to the program. The national award is given by the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.
The following Hawaii residents received awards from Hawaii Women Lawyers, a nonprofit organization, for helping to improve the lives and careers of women in the legal profession and enhancing the status of women in the community. They are: Bernice Littman, Lifetime Achievement Award; Donna Tanoue, Woman Lawyer of the Year Award; Ellen Godbey Carson, Distinguished Service Award; and Emme Tomimbang and Rai Saint Chu, Presidents Awards.
