Hawaiian Airlines gets new plane

Advertiser Staff and News Services

The first 717-200 airliner for Hawaiian Airlines’ interisland service was delivered at a ceremony yesterday at the Boeing Long Beach Division. Hawaiian ordered 13 of the twinjets, with rights to purchase seven more, in September 1999.

The 717s will replace the airline’s 15 DC-9s, and will join 12 DC-10s. Hawaiian’s 717s are configured to carry 123 passengers — eight in first class and 115 in economy. They are scheduled to begin interisland service March 15.
