Symposium on disabled women

By Beverly Creamer
Advertiser Staff Writer

As part of Women’s History Month, a symposium today and tomorrow will explore women’s issues with regard to disabilities.

Entitled "Diversity and Disability: Reflections on Women, Culture and Sexuality," the symposium will highlight the screening of the film "Dance Me to My Song" and offer the chance to hear its writer and star, Heather Rose, who was born with cerebral palsy and depends on a personal attendant for her day-to-day care.

The symposium is a pre-event of the 17th annual Pacific Rim Conference on Disabilities, Sunday through Tuesday at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel.

To register for the two-day symposium call Valerie Shearer at 956-2673 or Martha Guinan at 956-9810. Cost: $85, including two meal receptions. Hours: 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m. at the University of Hawaii-Manoa, Campus Center Ballroom, today and at the same time tomorrow at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel.
