Police find body near Pali Highway

Police were sent to the Pali yesterday after a body was found on a hiking trail.

Police were called to the scene on the Kailua side of the Pali Tunnels, near the hairpin turn, at about 3 p.m. Two hunters found the body about 100 yards down the Maunawili Trail, Honolulu Fire Department spokesman Capt. Richard Soo said.

The clothed body was found face down in a stream and officials estimated it had been there at least a month, Soo said.

The identity of the person and the cause of death was not released.

Fugitive sought in robbery of two

Police yesterday were searching for a 37-year-old fugitive wanted in connection with an armed robbery near Leeward Community College.

Police said Vincent Scanlan is wanted for questioning in an armed robbery of two auto repairmen on Jan. 3.

Repairmen were robbed in a secluded area at 96-029 Waiawa Road by two armed robbers. Police said Scanlan is known to frequent Pearl City, Aiea and hotels near Honolulu airport. Call 911 or CrimeStoppers at 955-8300.
