The squad, which is comprised of 29 boys and girls from Kaiser, Kaimuki, Iolani, Punahou, Moanalua, Radford, Aiea, Pearl City, Waipahu, Mililani, Kahuku, and Maui, opened with a hula sequence in the routine that won the team the Innovative Choreography Award in the Small Co-ed division.

Two other Hawaii teams joined the Kulia squad. Na Alii Opio, which finished fourth, and Na Alii Haaheo, which finished ninth.

There were 72 children on the three teams and their routines included tumbling, partner stunts, pyramids, jumps, and motions or dance.
