An overnight Honolulu Academy of Arts program for children, "Bedtime With Bugs Bunny and Friends," starts March 23, taking kids age 9 to 12 on a cartoon "edu-venture."
They will learn how Warner Bros. characters were created, get drawing tips from a cartoonist and create a thaumatrope (an optical device) and kineograph (a flip book). The kids also will make cartoon masks and create a drama production.
The overnighter begins at 6 p.m. Friday, March 23, with a tour of the traveling exhibition "The Art of Warner Bros. Animation" and the interactive gallery "Animation Station." The event ends the next morning at 8 a.m., after breakfast and cartoons.
An evening snack, breakfast, supplies and museum admission are included in the $30 fee. Kids must bring their own sleeping bags, flashlights and toiletries.
To register your child, call 532-3666. For more information about the exhibit, which runs through April 1, visit www.honoluluacademy.org or call 532-8700.
