Kapolei rallies behind its schools

By Zenaida Serrano Espanol

This is a party that is meant to promote getting along and showing appreciation.

Ka Leo O Kapolei, a support and mentoring group, will be hosting a paina, or party, called "Mahalo E Ke Kula . . . Thanks to Our Schools" from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Kapolei High School.

"It is to support the school complex and the vast community of Kapolei," said Carolyn Ancheta, vice president of Ka Leo O Kapolei.

Event organizers hope to raise money for the Kapolei complex of schools, which includes Kapolei Elementary, Kapolei Middle, Kapolei High, Barbers Point Elementary, Makakilo Elementary and Mauka Lani Elementary.

Organizers also want to bring the entire Kapolei community together to give those who live and work there a chance to get to know one another.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will include entertainment provided by students from the six schools, inflatable rides, family games, food booths and more.

Those interested can also purchase a Hawaiian plate (pre-sale only) for $10. Hawaiian plate tickets may be purchased by contacting one of the schools or calling 692-8200, ext. 2252.

For information, call 692-8200.
