Shooter had taken crystal meth before killing girlfriend

The man who killed his girlfriend and was then killed in a shootout with police at Ala Moana Center in January had crystal methamphetamine in his system, according to a medical examiner’s report released today.

Michell A. Udani, 26, had methamphetamine and amphetamine in his blood, said acting medical examiner Dr. Kanthi von Guenther.

Police said Udani shot and killed Cherry Ann Domingo, 25, then fired at police who arrived at the Ala Moana Center parking lot Jan. 13. Four of the five officers returned fire, killing Udani.

Udani was the third person since January 2000 to be under the influence of drugs in a case that resulted in death by police gunfire or suicide.

Dominic Kealoha, 28, shot himself after a standoff with police Jan. 28, 2000, and Bernard Crivello, 25, was fatally shot after allegedly driving a car toward him Oct. 3, 2000.
