UH men ranked tops by Volleyball Magazine
For the first time in five years, the University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team is ranked No. 1 nationally.
Volleyball Magazine gave the Warriors (17-4) the top spot in this week's rankings, which were released today. The Warriors, who were No. 2 last week, went 3-1 on last week's trip, including their first road victory over UCLA since 1983.
Brigham Young (16-3), last week's No. 1 team, fell to second, followed by UCLA (18-6).
The Warriors also are in first place in the Pacific Division with a 12-3 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation record. With two road matches remaining against BYU, the Warriors already have clinched a berth in the MPSF playoffs.
The American Volleyball Coaches/USA Today poll, which is voted on by the NCAA Division I head coaches, will be released tomorrow. UH was ranked No. 2 in that poll last week.
