• HOWARD SCHWIEBERT has been named Campbell Estate telecommunications development manager, overseeing the estate's growing telecommunications and technology-related assets. The appointment comes as the company moves to double the size of its Kapolei teleport, bringing to 16 the number of satellite dishes by the end of the year. Schwiebert was previously asset manager of commercial and telecommunications properties for the estate. In another promotion, JENNIFER ZERFOSS, commercial/office properties administrator, has become one of the department's asset managers, responsible for managing the estate's retail, office and residential properties on O'ahu.

• PAUL EDWARDS has joined transdenominational Christian Hawaiian Islands Ministries as president and chief executive. Co-founders DAN and PAM CHUN will continue as chairman and vice president, respectively. Edwards, a veteran in fund-raising, development and training, most recently served as private consultant for nonprofit organizations such as the North American Mission Board and Maclellan Foundation, and has held positions at Stanford University, Promise Keepers and Prison Fellowship Ministries, and as head of Reebok commercial fitness licensee, CCS Fitness.

 Hawai'i Reserves Inc., which manages nonecclesiastical property for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, primarily in La'ie, has named Brigham Young University-Hawai'i budget director and treasurer RICH CAREY as controller. He succeeds JOHN HENDERSON, who will work on special projects until transfer to the Mainland in June.

• Registered nurse DALE KENNEDY has been named assistant hospital administrator and nurse executive team leader, responsible for in-patient nursing departments at Kaiser Permanente's Moanalua Medical Center. She most recently was human resources manager for physician recruitment and credentials for the Permanente Medical Group in the company's northern California region.

• LYNELL TOTOKI has been promoted to communications coordinator of the Kahala Mandarin Oriental hotel. Totoki joined the resort in 1999 as assistant to director of sales and is a former Ala Moana Hotel concierge manager.

• Former Hawai'i Newspaper Agency operations manager LAURIE SCHLEGEL has been named office manager for Starr Seigle Communications.. Also named was DEENA YOSHIMOTO,, director of human resources.

Visitor industry appointments:

• KEVIN GAVAGAN has been named director of engineering for Kapalua Bay Hotel, in charge of landscaping concepts for the resort to be initiated this year. He was previously employed at the West Maui as complex director of engineering.

• RUTH UY has been named director of sales, wholesale, for Aston Hotels and Resorts Hawai'i, overseeing U.S. and international wholesale partners. She most recently was Halekulani's hotel's North American FIT sales manager. Also named, NORMAN BERG, director of wholesale, corporate, Asian and kama'aina sales for the chain's 11 Aston properties on Maui.

• Kaua'i Marriott Resort and Beach Club: ARTHUR SUVERKROPP, former director of engineering at the Renaissance 'Ilikai Waikiki Hotel, has been named to the same position at this Kaua'i resort. ANDREW NEWMARK was named director of human resources. Newmark was most recently Marriott International's area director of human resources and training for Australia and director of human resources of Renaissance Sydney Hotel.

• Architect and artist RICHARD THOMAS REEP has joined Wimberly Alison Tong & Goo, architects, planners and consultants, as design services director. Based in the firm's Honolulu office, Reep will be responsible for design of hotel and time-share projects. He was previously director of architect at Marriott Vacation Club International in Orlando, Fla.
