DULLES, Va. Many of America Online's customers weren't able to send or receive e-mail or use other AOL applications for a brief period yesterday afternoon because of apower outage.
It's not exactly clear how many of AOL's 27 million customers were affected, but AOL officials acknowledged that e-mail and instant message networks were among the applications affected. The problem was resolved within hours.
AOL spokesman Nicholas Graham said yesterday afternoon that power had been restored and applications were running normally.
