Holdup witnesses sought by police

Police are seeking any witnesses who saw the getaway car or gunmen responsible for a robbery Tuesday at Stadium Mall.

Investigators want information about a red Ford Explorer seen at the Kmart parking lot, 4561 Salt Lake Blvd., or at the Stadium Mall parking lot, 4510 Salt Lake Blvd., between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. Tuesday.

The armed robbery occurred at Alpha Video in Stadium Mall at about 8:45 a.m.

The two robbers ran across Salt Lake Boulevard and were picked up by an accomplice driving a red two-door Ford Explorer. The car sped off on Salt Lake Boulevard toward Radford High School.

One robber, armed with a small handgun, was described as being in his late 20s to early 30s, with black short hair and a mustache. He was between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall, and about 160 to 180 pounds. He wore a black baseball cap, maroon long-sleeve hooded sweatshirt and denim shorts.

The other robber was described as being in his 20s to early 30s with black wavy hair, between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall, and about 220 pounds He wore a black long-sleeve shirt and black jeans.

The getaway car was described as a red, two-door Ford Explorer, possibly a 1997 or 1998 model, with very dark tinted windows with a smoky- plastic frame for the rear license plate.

Purse snatcher, driver sought

Police are looking for a purse snatcher who was inside a moving car Wednesday when he dragged a Japanese tourist 30 feet in Hale'iwa. The robbery occurred at 12:45 p.m. at the North Shore Market Place, 66-250 Kamehameha Highway.

The 45-year-old Japanese tourist was placing packages in the trunk of her rental vehicle when a dark four-door Honda Accord sedan drove up. The robber grabbed her handbag through the open window and dragged her about 30 feet until she was able to release her bag. The car sped off on Kamehameha Highway toward Waialua.

The robber was described as a Caucasian man in his early 20s, with short blond spiked hair. He wore sunglasses.

Police described the getaway car as possibly a dark-colored, four-door Honda Accord with a license plate number ending with the digits 572.
