The 2001 First Hawaiian Bank International Auto Show continues from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today at the Hawai'i Convention Center, featuring hundreds of new cars, trucks, minivans and SUVs. A showcase of the latest sports cars from Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini and Lotus is also on display, as are more than 25 Harley Davidson, Buell and Kawasaki motorcycles.

Sam Mita, 15, of Honolulu tries the Corbin Motors Sparrow on for size. The electric-powered, three-wheeled car accommodates one person and will do more than 70 mph.

In many cases, visitors can inspect the engines and climb inside the vehicles to examine amenities. Demonstrations and brochures are provided by manufacturer representatives.

Motor Trend magazine's "Automobiles for the New Millennium" is on display, with car designs that may — or may not — be seen in the future. NASA's "Benefits of Space" exhibit is also on hand, featuring items invented for space travel that are now in everyday use.

Until last year, the annual auto show had been held at the Blaisdell Center, where it was sponsored by First Hawaiian for 20 years. Most of the exhibit was shipped from the West Coast.

Admission to the show is $6 for adults; $4 for seniors and military; $3 for children 7 to 12; and free if under under 6. Parking is available on the lower level of Ala Moana Center.
