Thanks to the Honolulu Academy of Arts, when summer vacation starts, learning doesn't have to stop.

Registration for the Academy Art Center's 2001 summer session begins Tuesday, with classes running June 12 through July 20. The six-week program will offer a selection of classes: "Exploring Two- and Three-dimensional Art," kindergarten through grade 4; "Drawing and Painting," grades 5 through 12; "Cartooning," grades 4 through 7; "Ceramics," grades 4 through 6; and "Mixed-media Sculpture," grades 4 through 6. Tuition for these 24-class sessions, which will meet Tuesdays through Fridays, is $165.

The academy also will offer "Parent-Child Classes," for preschool children ages 3 to 5 accompanied by a parent or grandparent. Classes begin June 18 and will be held Mondays through July 16. Tuition is $90 per parent-and-child team, and parents with more than one child enrolled will pay a reduced rate.

For registration information, call 532-8741.
