President Bush signed into law today a bill naming the U.S. Post Office building on Lana'i after retired Maui County Chairman Goro Hokama.

The Lana'i post office opened a year ago.

The labor-leader-turned-politician, 72, served 41 years on the Maui County Council, retiring three years ago.

The retired Hokama continues to be active in community affairs, as chairman of the Maui Memorial Medical Center Management Advisory Committee and vice chairman of the county Civil Service Commission.
