Taiwanese tourist found dead
A 20-year-old tourist from Taiwan was found dead, apparently from drowning, in Hanauma Bay on Wednesday morning.
Police said the woman was swimming with family members at Hanauma Bay when she became separated from them at about 9:30 a.m. A search was conducted, and the woman was found unconscious in the water at about noon, police said.
She was transported to the Queen's Medical Center where she was pronounced dead, police said.
Second arrest in home invasion
Police have arrested a second person in the home-invasion robbery of a Punalu'u couple April 5.
A 17-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday after he was identified in a photo lineup. Police have filed a petition to have him tried as an adult.
He was arrested on suspicion of robbery, kidnapping, burglary and auto theft.
Police have charged Warren Elicker, 23, with first-degree robbery, kidnapping, first-degree burglary and auto theft. His bail was set at $100,000.
Police said the robbery occurred about 3 p.m. April 5 when a 62-year-old resident of the home on Kamehameha Highway allowed a man to use his phone. The man's accomplice also entered the house. They tied up the homeowner.
A short time later, the resident's 60-year-old wife arrived. She also was bound. The robbers stole several items, then each took one of the couple's cars.
Pair arrested in assault in park
Two Wahiawa men have been arrested by police following an assault at a Mokule'ia park on April 7, police said.
The men, ages 20 and 19, were arrested Wednesday on suspicion of making terroristic threats, police said. One of the men fired a gun and faces charges of attempted murder and a firearms offense, police said.
Police said the assault occurred at Mokule`ia Army Beach on the morning of April 7 after four men got into a disagreement with their assailants at a party.
One of the assailants struck a man on the head with a beer bottle and attacked him with a knife, police said. The second assailant threatened to shoot the victim's friends and kept them from going to his aid, police said.
The gunman fired several bullets at the victim but missed, police said.
Boyfriend accused of gun threats
A 38-year-old Pacific Palisades man faces charges of making terroristic threats. He is accused of threatening to shoot his girlfriend and others Tuesday night, police said.
Police said the incident was reported to have occurred at an Akepa Street residence. A woman told authorities that her live-in boyfriend threatened to shoot her, her friends and neighbors.
The girlfriend told police that threats were made after she said she wanted to end their relationship. Police said the man possessed six rifles, four handguns and ammunition.
Schofield soldiers hold track meet
Soldiers from Schofield Barracks will play host to the Central O'ahu regional track and field championships for this year's Hawai'i Special Olympics tomorrow .
More than 200 athletes, 125 soldiers from 1st Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade and family members from the region will participate in the events from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Schofield Barracks Stoneman Field.
