Clothes-shopping troubles for dad
By Deneitra Hutchinson

Some years ago, I realized just how long it had been since my father had shopped for new clothes.
I was sharing the details of a recent shopping trip with him when my dad confessed that he had recently tried to buy some new clothes, but couldn't find anything he liked. I couldn't believe there wasn't anything out there for him, so I pressed him a little further.
My dad explained, "Well, I did find some shirts that I liked, but they all had this white plastic thing clipped to them. I guess it must be some kind of new fad, but I don't like it."
I was puzzled. Plastic thing? I thought, what white plastic thing?
Then it hit me. I began to laugh. "Daddy, those aren't part of the clothing. They are anti-theft devices. The salespeople remove them when you check out."
