Fugitive sought in sexual assault

Police are searching for a fugitive who pleaded guilty to sexual assault last month and fled before sentencing.

Joshua Reed, 25, pleaded guilty to sexual assault and other felony charges March 2, police said. In the sexual assault case that occurred in October 2000 in Kailua, Reed broke into his 16-year-old ex-girlfriend's residence and held the victim and her teenage girlfriend at knifepoint, police said.

Reed sexually assaulted his ex-girlfriend before her mother returned home, police said, adding that Reed had been stalking the victim and had repeatedly told the girl he would hurt her, her family, friends and pets.

Police said Reed used the name Erick Victor to board a plane March 19 for Los Angeles and may have returned to O'ahu.
