Fads & Finds
Cruise around town on the new E-Bike

EV Global Motors Co.
Lee Iacocca didn't actually invent the wheel, but he has been the driving force behind so many of its most popular improvements — the Ford Mustang and minivan, among others — that some folks act as if he holds the patent.

Iacocca's latest reinvention of the wheel comes in the form of a new-fangled version of an old-fangled concept: the bicycle.

But the E-Bike, an electric bicycle developed by Iacocca's EV Global company is, according to him, "the first and most advanced product of its kind." The product appeals to a new breed of motorist looking for something to tool around town on that's safe, sexy and economical.

"It has its advantages and its disadvantages," said Mark Rowntree, who heads up E-Bike sales for Volcano Motor Sports in Kane'ohe. "We have them on sale right now for $700 and up, and they don't cost much at all to recharge."

The E-Bike is clean and silent, and a snap to maneuver at up to 15 mph. On the minus side, the recharge takes four hours, and the bike's maximum range is 20 miles.

It comes in three models. Standard features include cruise control, rechargeable sealed battery with built-in charger,

7-speed grip shift and a quick release front wheel. For information, call 235-6568.
