HAWAI'I MOTOR SPEEDWAY

  • What: 2001 97.5 KPOI Season Opener
  • Site: Hawai'i Motor Speedway.
  • Schedule: Saturday. Gates open 5 p.m. and racing begins at 7.
  • Track: ´-mile, ultra-wide (85 feet wide), dirt track oval.
  • Tickets: Adults $7, seniors 55 and older and juniors 11-17 $5, children 6-10 $3 and children 5-younger free.
  • Information: Dirt-track hotline at 682-8226.
  • Fast facts: The program features winged 360 sprint cars, screaming super stocks, super duper modifieds, Motown57 modifieds, mighty midgets and the cruzer bruzers.
  • Last week: The winners were Dean Freitas (winged sprint cars), Jimbo Joseph (modifieds), Jimmy Joseph Jr. (midgets), Jimmy Pontin (super stocks) and Lonnie Baker Sr. (cruzer bruzers).
