Share prom horror stories

It was 50 years ago and she remembers it vividly: He picked her up in a dirty truck, abandoned her for another girl when they got to the hotel and then — the worst! — someone else showed up in the same dress.

Prom horror stories. So many of us have them, and they're the sort of memories that continue to niggle like a pebble in a shoe, even after the passage of years.

As prom season 2001 gets under way, we'd like to hear your stories of prom disasters and how you got through them.

Give us the year, the school, your name and in what neighborhood you now live. If you've got prom photographs you're willing to share, send them and we'll scan them in and return them.

Send to Prom Stories, Island Life, P.O. Box 3110, Honolulu, HI 96802. E-mail: islandlife@honoluluadvertiser.com Fax: 525-8055.

We'll excerpt a selection of stories in the Island Life section later this month.
