Geared toward ages 6 to 10, the classes give kids a chance to draw, sculpt or paint the critters that call the Honolulu Zoo home. And there are a lot: more than 1,250 animals, some 300 species of birds, amphibians, reptiles and mammals.
Children will get to see the zoo from "a different point of view," said Susie Gardner, director of the Honolulu Zoological Society's education program. "We will give them a chance to (take) a behind-the-scenes peek at the animals."
The sessions will be from 1 to 4 p.m. every Sunday in May at the zoo. Parents do not have to accompany their children. Registration is required: $35 per class, or $120 for all four classes; Honolulu Zoological Society members pay $30 or $100, respectively. Visit www.honoluluzoo.org or call 926-3191.
