Man sought on sex charges

WAILUKU, Maui — Maui police are asking for the public's assistance in finding a man indicted for promoting pornography for minors and first-degree sexual assault.

The victim is under the age of 10.

Jeffery C. Bednarz, 43, is described as a 5-foot-3 Caucasian male, approximately 155 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes.

The alleged offenses occurred Aug. 2, 1999, and Bednarz was indicted by a grand jury on Sept. 18 last year. His last known address is in Ha'iku, and he is known to frequent the Upcountry area, according to police.

Anyone with information concerning Bednarz's whereabouts is asked to call Maui CrimeStoppers at (808) 242-6966 or toll-free at (888) 242-6966. Do not give your name.

Callers will remain anonymous.

Maui CrimeStoppers pays cash rewards of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of criminals.
