Special visitor tours facilities

The Army's top enlisted soldier toured Army installations on O'ahu, spent time at Schofield Barracks and talked with enlisted soldiers of all ranks this month.

Sergeant Major of the Army Jack L. Tilley is the personal adviser to the Army chief of staff, Gen. Eric Shinseki, on all enlisted matters.

Tilley addressed some of the service's key issues in a speech April 11 at a Primary Leadership Development Course graduation.

"The first thing a noncommissioned officer needs, enlisted people need, is a pay raise," Tilley said. "The second thing they need to focus on in Congress is quality of life for soldiers. I'm talking about families. I'm talking about family housing. We need to work on that."
