Ex-convict arrested in kidnapping

Police converged on a Punchbowl apartment last night and arrested a 30-year-old man who allegedly held a woman hostage for more than three hours.

They responded to the Pele Street apartment at 10 p.m. and arrested the man at 1:15 this morning on suspicion of intimidating a witness and kidnapping.

Police said he had been released recently from the Halawa Correctional Facility, where his cellmate was a suspect in a January kidnapping case with the same woman.

Police said the man went to her apartment yesterday and gave a bogus name. He allegedly showed her a loaded semiautomatic gun and told her he was interested in what was happening in his former cellmate's case. The woman said she finally managed to phone a prosecutor, who then called police.

Police briefly closed the westbound Vineyard Boulevard off-ramp during the incident.

Wai'anae man charged in attack

Police have charged a 20-year-old Wai'anae man they said threatened his former roommate and pelted him with rocks on Tuesday.

Police charged Robert Kaleikini of Kapiki Road with first- degree terroristic threatening and set his bail at $25,000.

Kaleikini's former roommate said Kaleikini threatened him with a sickle in front of his home and hurled rocks at him, resulting in minor injuries, police said.

Kaleikini was arrested after the former roommate's identification.
