Wahine golfers sixth in WAC

The University of Hawai'i women's golf team came from nine strokes behind to pass Texas-El Paso and place sixth at the Western Athletic Conference Championships held at the Golf Club at Castle Hills, Texas.

Hawai'i scored a total of 950, while first-place Tulsa finished with 864.

Hawai'i's top finisher, junior Melanie Matsumura, shot a 235 total to tie for 20th. It was the second time this season Matsumura placed in the top 20 of an event.

Tulsa's Stacy Prammanasudh captured the title with a 211. San Jose State's Marcela Leon took second with 218. Both were named to the WAC All-Conference team.


BOWLING

• Pros at Pearl: The Professional Bowlers Association West Region is returning to Pearl Harbor for the 22nd Annual BOSS Hawai'i PBA West Region Open at Subase Bowling Center.

Pros will practice tomorrow, with qualifying starting at 9 a.m. Saturday.
