Woman injured after struggle

A 33-year-old Waikiki woman suffered minor injuries after she was attacked by two men in Waikiki today, police said.

According to police, the attack happened at 2:35 a.m. as the woman was walking home after having a few drinks at a club. The assailant grabbed the woman from behind, covered her mouth and dragged her toward the bushes.

The woman fell to the ground, broke loose from her attacker and screamed for help. The attackers then fled on foot, police said.

Man hits ex-girlfriend's car, police say

Police opened an attempted murder investigation after a 34-year-old Makakilo man allegedly rammed his ex-girlfriend's car with his own car and then chased her down near Makiki last night.

According to police, the incident happened at 6:48 p.m. when the man followed the 34-year-old woman and rammed his car into the rear of her car near the intersection of Kina'u and Pi'ikoi streets. He then chased her to the area of Ke'eaumoku and Lunalilo streets and forced her to stop by cutting her off.

The man sped away after he saw the woman calling for help. Several hours later, the man came to the main police station to report that he was in an auto accident. He was identified and arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Waikiki hotel break-in investigated

Police are investigating a case in which two armed robbers broke into a hotel room, tied up guests and stole a hotel safe last night in Waikiki.

According to police, the incident happened at 8 p.m. at 320 Lewers St.

The 18-year-old victim refused to make a report, police said. Hotel management became suspicious about the activity and checked the room to find blood and the room safe missing.

One of the guests returned and refused to prosecute, but the hotel wanted to pursue a burglary case, police said.

Police search for early morning robbers

Police are looking for two robbers who allegedly forced two men inside a white van and robbed them of their money and keys in the Ala Moana area yesterday morning.

According to police, the incident started about 4 a.m. near the intersection of Kapi'olani Boulevard and Sheridan Street after one of the men left the Venus Nite Club, 1349 Kapi'olani Blvd., and started walking toward Kapi'olani Boulevard.

One of the men inside the van pointed what appeared to be a shotgun at the man and ordered him to get into the van. The driver then drove to a nearby corner where he picked up another man. The two robbers then took the victims' money and keys. The first victim managed to get out of the van and ran back to the nightclub. He then went home and called police.

Woman steals purse from Kapiolani bar

A confrontation over a stolen purse nearly turned into a dangerous threat yesterday when a robber brandished a handgun before fleeing in a getaway car in the Ala Moana area, police said.

According to police, the robbery happened at 12:10 a.m. at the New Bangkok Restaurant & Bar, 1689 Kapi'olani Blvd., when a woman stole a purse from a table and tried to leave the bar. The owner of the purse confronted the thief who pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the woman and the rest of the people at the bar.

The woman walked out to the parking lot and drove away in a grey 1985 Mazda, two-door sedan, with license JGF-375, police said.
