Tube Notes

Gannett News Service

• TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE: "Everybody Loves Raymond," 8 p.m., CBS. Calmly and quietly, it has evolved into one of the best shows on TV. This has been a particularly good year for Robert (Brad Garrett). Tonight, he's lectured by his former girlfriends, the straightforward Amy (Monica Horan) and the gorgeous Italian emigre Stefania (Alex Meneses).

• TONIGHT'S MIGHT-SEE: "Armageddon" (1998), 7 p.m., ABC. History might recall that Bruce Willis has great gifts as an actor — in the right roles. Alas, he sometimes settles for odd action films. In "Armageddon," a mega-budget story about an asteroid rushing toward Earth, he plays the oil driller who is supposed to help blow it up. By the same director as "Pearl Harbor" (Michael Bay).

"Boston Public," 7 p.m., Fox. Lauren, played by the talented Jessalyn Gilsig, falls for a young guy who used to be her student.

"Young Frankenstein" (1974) 6:15 p.m., AMC. Mel Brooks hit his peak with this wonderful takeoff on horror films. The black-and-white film gives Gene Wilder great support, including Peter Boyle (the "Everybody Loves Raymond" dad) and the late Madeline Kahn.

"Ally McBeal," 8 p.m., Fox. Ally's birthday nears, and Larry has a bizarre case. Add those together and you have a guest cast that ranges from Paul Reubens ("Pee-Wee Herman," "Blow") to Cindy Margolis and Sting.
