Advertiser Staff

A 23-year-old Waipahu man accused of sexually abusing a 10-year-old girl and videotaping the acts was indicted by the O'ahu Grand Jury today on 30 counts of sexual assault and three counts of promoting child abuse.

Shane AK "Shank" Fernandez was charged with 12 counts of first-degree sexual assault, 18 counts of third-degree sexual assault and three counts of promoting child abuse. He was being held on $250,000 bail.

Fernandez was arrested late July 27 at the Stadium Market Place on Salt Lake Boulevard, where he works as a maintenance. Police were looking for Fernandez after his ex-girlfriend said she had found video tapes of Fernandez having sex with her 10-year-old daughter, according to a court affidavit.
