Charities may have use for excess UH tickets

Having come to its senses, the University of Hawai'i has developed a way for Warrior football season ticket holders to get a refund if they cannot make it to the rescheduled Fresno State Game on Oct. 26.

But rather than go through the hassle of getting a refund, some fans might want to do something useful with those unused seats: Why not donate them to charity?

One good possibility might be Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Honolulu, which has around 300 matched brothers and sisters. A pair of Friday night seats at Aloha Stadium for the big Fresno game might be just the, well, ticket.

Big Brothers, Big Sisters said they would be pleased to match up generous season ticket holders with their clients. They estimate they could use around 50 tickets. Give them a call at 521-3811.

There might be other charitable groups or organizations equally interested in this idea. So check around. Not only would you be making someone happy, you will get a nice tax deductible receipt in the bargain.

And the Warriors may get some new fans.
