Bureau says e-mail a hoax

The Better Business Bureau of Hawai'i said yesterday that an e-mail purporting to be from the bureau is circulating to local businesses. Anne Deschene, president of the bureau, said the e-mail, which says some companies are being denied membership in the bureau, is not from the bureau and the businesses mentioned in the e-mail have not been denied memberships.

The Better Business Bureau of Hawai'i is a private, nonprofit, member-funded business organization.

It is an affiliate of the Council of Better Business Bureaus, a system of 145 Better Business Bureaus in the United States and Canada.
