FLASHBACK: Tom Moffatt is in Cleveland's Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. That is to say, one of Moffatt's vintage "Show of Stars" posters, heralding a 1958 concert with the Everly Brothers, Four Preps, Bobby Day, Bob and Earl, Hollywood Flames, Glenn Glenn, Robin Luke, Alec Ramos and the Drifters (with Uncle Tom as emcee), has made it to the museum's hallowed walls. Inflation note: Tickets for that show were only $1.50 and $2.20 ...

When The Mana'o Company took the stage at last weekend's KCCN Birthday Bash at the Waikiki Shell, the group wore '70s attire (the era of its origin) resembling Earth, Wind and Fire. Its "Spread a Little Aloha" title tune off the just-out homecoming CD has been picked up by Aloha Airlines as the theme music for the next round of TV commercials ...

WHEE, THE PEOPLE: Loyal Garner is in the Queen's Medical Center (no visitors, please) in her ongoing battle with colon cancer. "Every time I face a bump in the road, it makes me taller, stronger," said Garner last week after surgery. But prayers and kind thoughts would help her heal now, said her good buddy and fellow Local Diva, Melveen Leed ...

If Kimo McVay, who died in Honolulu last month, had had his way, Mel Gibson wouldn't be his first pick to portray his late father in "The Captain and the Shark," a Warner Bros. film project to be directed by Barry Levinson. The film is to be based on the USS Indianapolis incident that led to the court martial of Capt. Charles McVay, who only this year was exonerated. "I don't think Kimo knew about this project," said Betsy McVay, his widow. "But I do know he wanted Kevin Costner to play his father" if a film were done ...

Larry Paxton's neighbors at his Makiki condo must've done a double take when the singer-actor got into the elevator a few days back, dressed in tails and a black cape. He was costumed as "Dr. Jekyll" for his dual role in Diamond Head Theatre's "Jekyll & Hyde," premiering Sept. 14. He was merely off to a publicity shoot with snapper Gene Allen ...

ON THE ROAD: Hawai'i-bound Charlotte Church (she performs Aug. 11 with the Honolulu Symphony at Blaisdell Arena) has completed the first three legs of her summer tour, singing with Luciano Pavarotti in London, gracing the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and performing in San Diego's Summer Pops series. Now the 15-year-old is in England to complete her next CD. Maestro Samuel Wong will conduct the concert here (he's on a Tahitian vacation now with his family). Meantime, the girl with the voice of an angel appears in "Charlotte Church Live From Jerusalem," from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. today on Hawai'i Public Television ...

Aaron Tiknis, 11, is visiting Hawai'i. He'll see the new Honolulu Academy of Arts wing that his mom, Sharon, helped raise money for, while dad Michael, former executive director of the Honolulu Symphony, presents the Boston Pops, conducted by Keith Lockhart, in Midland, Mich. The elder Tiknis spent some time with Carolyn Berry, Honolulu Symphony board chairwoman, who was visiting Michigan ...

Ledward Kaapana and Cyril Pahinui, Dancing Cat Records artists, are off on a tour that will keep them on the road through early September. The tour began in Boechout, Belgium, but the duo's now in the Maine-Massachusetts areas ...

And that's Show Biz ...
