COMING UP

Drag racing

Tomorrow — Garden Isle Racing Association presents NHRA Drag Racing. At Kaua'i Raceway Park in Mana. Gates open at 8 a.m., qualifying at 9 a.m. and eliminations at 1 p.m. Racing will include street cars, competition cars and junior dragsters. Information: (808) 823-6246.

Flag football

Outrigger Hotels and Resorts Flag Football Fall Invitational League. Divisions: 8-man eligible and four-on-four. Games will be played Sundays at Salt Lake District Park. Season will start in September. Fee: $850 for 8-man eligible; $275 for four-on-four. 10-games minimum. Information: Rick Mikami, 672-6050.

Karate

Aug. 19 — 19th Annual Aloha State Traditional Karate Championships. At Aliamanu Military Reservation Gym. Events: kobudo, kata, kumite. Sept. 30 — Susan G. Komen Hawai'i Race for the Cure. At Kapi'olani Park. A fund-raiser for breast cancer research. The 5K race begins at 7:30 a.m., followed by a one-mile walk at 7:45 a.m. Fee: $18 ($22 after Sept. 22) and $15 each for groups of five or more mailed together ($18 each for late registration). Will feature some of Hawai'i's top volleyball players, including past and present University of Hawai'i men's and women's volleyball players.
