Calling it "The Notorious C.H.O." tour, comedian Margaret Cho, the first Asian American to star in her own television sitcom, will embark on a tour starting Aug. 30 in Miami and including three Hawai'i stops before winding up Jan. 12 in Austin, Texas.

Inspired by female rap artists Lil' Kim, Missy Elliott and Eve the Notorious, Cho will bring her sometimes raucous, sometimes raunchy, overtly feminist and comedic presence to three sites on as many islands, as follows:
Stand-up comedian Margaret Cho has scheduled three Hawai'i shows this fall.
- Nov. 29 Kaua'i Marriott Resort in Lihu'e.
- Nov. 30 Maui Arts & Cultural Center in Kahului.
- Dec. 1 Blaisdell Concert Hall in Honolulu.
A stand-up comic since she was 16, Cho previously has performed at Blaisdell and at Diamond Head Theatre (where her most recent show, in January 2000, was a sellout, with two extensions added for a total of five shows). Her fans remember her short-lived but breakthrough 1994 ABC TV series, "All-American Girl." A Korean-American native of San Francisco, Cho has become a staple on cable comedy series and specials, winning an American Comedy Award in the process.
Her "I'm the One That I Want," performed at DHT and eventually materializing as her comeback film that inspired her to write an autobiography with the same title, has been her most recent claim to fame.
Ticket details will be announced later.
