Mike Buck has left the program director's post at KGU 760 AM; Michael T. Shishido succeeds him at the talk station.
Shishido has been program director for KAIM-FM, a contemporary Christian music station, and at KHNR-AM, Hawai'i News Radio. They are sister stations of KGU, part of a four-station family run by Salem Media of Hawai'i Inc.
Shishido will continue to do an afternoon drive shift on KAIM, but will take on the new responsibilities as program director, said Doug Campbell, general manager of Salem.
Buck's last day as morning drive-time host was July 27. The station has elected to air network programming in that slot, at least through August.
Campbell said he intends to maintain the talk format for KGU, with a local show eventually resuming.
Though the Buck tenure, in place since April when KGU changed from a sports format to a talk format, "didn't work out, he did his job faithfully and well," Campbell said.
Shishido is a 22-year veteran of Honolulu radio.
