Group offering project grants

The Commemorative Association for the Japan World Exposition is accepting applications for grants for next year.

Categories of projects qualifying for assistance include: projects contributing to international cultural exchange and enhancement of international goodwill, projects concerning international cooperation in the field of academic study and education, international projects related to social education of youth and international projects related to medical care.

Applicants must be members or affiliates of a nonprofit organization. Call 543-3127. Deadline for submission is Sept. 24.


Fire prevention grants available

The Department of Land and Natural Resources, Division of Forestry and Wildlife, has announced the availability of a program to assist communities in preventing wildfires. A total of $17 million is available to 17 western states, including Hawai'i, through the National Fire Plan. Call 587-4173. The deadline to apply for the grant is Sept. 15.


Toxic mold to be discussed on TV

'Olelo Community Television will air a presentation on the legal issues surrounding the indoor air quality topic of toxic mold, addressed by Bruce Wakuzawa, an officer, director and shareholder of law corporation Alston Hunt Floyd & Ing. Wakuzawa will discuss the recent claims of toxic mold being the next asbestos-like health issue.

The show airs on channel 54 at 8 p.m. tomorrow and 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
