Police today arrested a Schofield Barracks man who authorities say attacked his wife and repeatedly stabbed her and a Navy man today in Pearl City.
The 32-year-old woman and the Navy man, who was described as in his 40s, were both in serious condition with multiple stab wounds at the Tripler Army Medical Center and the Queen's Medical Center, respectively, police said.
The 33-year-old Army man was arrested on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder, first-degree terroristic threatening, kidnapping and a violating a temporary restraining order.
The stabbing happened at about 2 a.m. near the intersection of Ho'oha'aheo Place and Ho'ohulu Street. Police said the wife was driving her friend home and were being followed by the Navy man in a second car when her husband drove up and confronted them at the intersection.
The husband pulled the woman out of the car and stabbed her repeatedly. The Navy man was stabbed inside his car after he argued with the husband. Police believed the Navy man was a friend of the wife's passenger.
The husband drove his wife to Tripler where both of them received treatment for their injuries. He suffered a cut on his left hand and was released from the hospital. He was then taken to the Kalihi police station where he was arrested and booked.
Police found the knife used in the stabbing and were waiting to interview the husband who was scheduled to be transferred to the main station on Beretania Street this morning. Police said they were still trying to find the motive of the stabbing.
