Community grants await applicants

The Neighborhood Grants Program, sponsored by the Hawai'i Community Foundation, is accepting proposals from community groups that want to improve their O'ahu neighborhoods .
Projects such as beautification, youth and elderly activities, crime prevention and cultural events will be considered. Awards range from $1,000 to $5,000 per group.
To be eligible, neighborhood groups must have limited financial resources available based on the income level of area residents. At least half of the group members must live within the neighborhood. There must be a commitment to complete the project within one year, with visible results.
