University of Hawai'i All-America outside hitter Lily Kahumoku, who announced last week she would not play volleyball this season, might be returning to play for the Wahine this season.
According to UH associate head coach Charlie Wade, who talked to her as late as yesterday, Kahumoku has asked about the possibility of coming back and playing.
Kahumoku announced on July 30 her intention to sit out a season and remain with her family in Alabama. She cited personal reasons for her decision
Wade said he called her Monday and that's when Kahumoku brought up the idea of returning.
Wade and Kahumoku talked again yesterday, but she was still undecided.
"She was pretty confused: I don't think she knows what she wants to do," Wade said.
"It's a personal matter with her and that's where it starts and stops.
"I don't know how much of a chance there is (of her returning)."
Kahumoku could not be reached for comment.
She attended high school in Lubbock, Texas, before coming to Hawai'i and playing her final two high schools seasons at Kamehameha, where she boarded as a student. Her family recently moved to Alabama.
Kahumoku expressed a desire to take a break shortly after last season.
