A Schofield Barracks soldier stabbed his wife at a Pearl City intersection yesterday and then attacked a Navy man who tried to intervene, police said.

The 32-year-old woman and the Navy man, who is in his 40s, were both in serious condition with multiple stab wounds.

The woman was taken to Tripler Army Medical Center and the Navy man was at the Queen's Medical Center yesterday.

The Army soldier, 33, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder, first-degree terroristic threatening, kidnapping and violating a temporary restraining order.

The stabbing happened about 2 a.m. near the intersection of Ho'oha'aheo Place and Ho'ohulu Street. Police said the woman was driving a friend home and was being followed by the Navy man in a second car when her husband drove up and confronted them at the intersection.

The husband pulled the woman out of the car and stabbed her repeatedly, police said. The Navy man was stabbed inside his car after he argued with the husband.

Police believe that the Navy man was a friend of the woman's passenger.

The husband drove his wife to Tripler, where both received treatment for their injuries. He was treated for a cut on his left hand and was released. He was then taken to the Kalihi police station, where he was arrested and booked.

Police found the knife used in the stabbing. They were still trying to determine the motive.
