2 teens arrested in Nu'uanu Stream murder case

Police arrested two Kalihi teenagers last night in connection with the murder of 59-year-old man whose body was found floating in Nu'uanu Stream the morning of Aug. 1.

The men, both 18, were taken to the main police station, where they were arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder.

Police said they believe assailants attacked Benjamin Costa Amarino Jr. Firefighters recovered Amarino's body floating in about 3 feet of water, 100 yards downstream of the Kukui Street bridge.

The medical examiner said Amarino drowned after being hit on the head. Police said Amarino had back problems and was unemployed. Amarino lived on Pauahi Street.
