TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE: "From the Waist Down: Men, Women and Music," noon to 5 p.m., VH1. If you haven't been watching this five-hour documentary series, don't fret. The first four hours rerun today, followed by the finale. In one burst, the sexual history of rock will writhe past us. That starts at noon with Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry and other pioneers. At 1 p.m. are the "guitar gods," from Jimi Hendrix to Ted Nugent. At 2 are the guys from Little Richard to Boy George who crossed into traditional female images. At 3 are the sexy women, from Janis Joplin to Madonna. That leads to the finale at 4 p.m. It deals with such touchy matters as censorship and sexual marketing.
"The Family Television Awards," 7 p.m., CBS. There really are some family shows out there. Some are honored tonight in a ceremony hosted by Clint Black and his wife, Lisa Hartman Black.
"Mysterious Ways," 7 p.m., NBC. One of Peggy's patients insists that his imaginary friend helped save him.
"James Dean," 8-10 p.m., TNT. With the skillful touch of playwright Israel Horovitz and director Mark Rydell, it gives us fresh insights into Dean (played by James Franco) and his simmering, yet short, career.
