Komen race benefits breast cancer research

Applications are available starting today for the Susan G. Komen Hawai'i Race for the Cure on Sept. 30 at Kapi'olani Park.
The event benefits breast cancer research.
A 5K race begins at 7:30 a.m. and a one-mile walk starts at 7:45 a.m. An awards ceremony, with entertainment by Dita Holifield and her band, will begin at 8:45 a.m.
Registration is $18 ($22 after Sept. 22) and $15 for groups of five or more mailed together ($18 for late registration).
Entry forms are available at all Chevron stations, Bank of Hawai'i, Safeway, Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children, Pier 1 Imports, First Hawaiian Bank, Running Room, Runner's Route and Sports Authority locations, or by calling 973-5967.
Heart walk: The eighth annual American Heart Association's Hawai'i Heart Walk is tomorrow at Kapi'olani Park.
The race, a 4.5-mile walk around Diamond Head and one-mile fun walk around Kapi'olani Park, will start at 7 a.m.
Registration is 6 a.m. with opening remarks at 6:30.
Run canceled: The one-hour run on the Track, scheduled for tomorrow at Schofield Barracks, has been canceled.
