"She'll start in mid-September," station general manager Mike Rosenberg said.
Kathy Muneno was co-host of "Good Morning Hawai'i." She is working in Cleveland.
Muneno is a producer-writer at WJW, the Fox affiliate, in Cleveland. She will fill the post once held by Sharie Shima, who moved to KHNL-8.
Muneno served for nine years as reporter and the morning co-anchor at Channel 4.
At that station, she also launched "On the Menu," which has evolved into a regular programming feature with host Shawn Ching.
Muneno's arrival means that Ben Gutierrez moves back to the weekend weather slot; he'll also return to news reporting.
The weather position was one of the key vacancies at KITV.
The station is searching for a news director, after Wally Zimmermann left that post yesterday after 13 years.
